Our Capella Staycation Last October
I can’t believe it’s taken me almost a year to write this — and in less than a week, we’ll be checking in again.
Capella remains my best staycation experience to date. There’s something about being “off mainland” that makes it easier to dissociate from real life. The moment I enter Sentosa, it feels like a soft reset. It’s a break from the usual hustle — the weekday grind, the weekend routines we’re all stuck in, just in different permutations. Sentosa staycays feel like an actual escape from the loop.
Why staycay instead of fly away?
As a very attached cat mom, I love that I can enjoy a holiday without being too far from my four cats. I hope I never need to, but knowing I’m just a call and Grab ride away gives me peace of mind.
Plus — there aren’t many nearby places overseas that match the cleanliness, design, and amenities of a luxury hotel in Singapore. Sentosa is the perfect in-between: enough nature to feel removed, but still close enough that we could invite friends and family to join the stay. Win-win!
Our Garden Villa
We booked the Garden Villa for this stay (for our upcoming one, I picked a different room so I’ll share that soon!).
The villa comes with its own private pool — which we barely used 😂 We ended up spending more time at the main pool with friends instead.
Things I loved about the villa:
Spacious walk-in wardrobe connected to the bathroom
Outdoor bath (great if you have toddlers)
His & hers vanity sinks
Gorgeous living area for dining, lounging, and hosting
Private porch for buggy pick-ups
Remote-controlled curtains & blinds
Fully private even with curtains wide open

Breakfast
Breakfast was consistently delightful. If I had to nitpick, I do wish the spread was larger — but the quality made up for it. I liked that we could order from the à la carte menu too, even though it didn’t change during our 2–3 day stay. I’m curious to see if it’s the same this round.
The standout? Their yogurt cups. I still think about them. I even brought a couple back to the villa after breakfast each day😅
How we spent our time
When you live in Singapore, it can feel like there’s not much left to explore. But this stay reminded me that it’s more about how you spend your time.
We took morning walks, went shopping (yes, we bought LEGO to build in the villa 😂), hit the gym and spa, and mostly just oscillated between chill time with family and spontaneous activities. That balance made it feel like a real holiday.
We ordered room service at least once a day. Not everything wowed us, but the joy of in-room dining made up for any misses — I’d reorder it all in a heartbeat.
Every restaurant we tried at Capella
We managed to try all three on-site restaurants: Fiamma, Bob’s Bar, and Cassia.
⭐️My favourite: Bob’s Bar
Incredible local food: fried kway teow, roti prata with curry, hor fun — the works. The view of the sea and greenery during our early evening snack was just next-level calming. It was also the first time I spotted hornbills in Singapore!
Cassia
Cassia felt unexpectedly atas — we were definitely underdressed. Our guests didn’t find the food memorable, and Wes and I aren’t the best judges of Chinese cuisine since we don’t typically enjoy it. This time, I’ll be bringing my parents, so we’ll see if we get a different verdict.
Fiamma
Some standout dishes, some misses. I always love a good Crudo — but the pizza didn’t land for me. My Italian friend, however, loved everything. So maybe don’t take my word for it 😂 Hospitality was top-tier either way.
Capella still has a special place in my heart
Clearly, I loved it enough to go back.
Staying in Singapore might not sound exciting, but a Capella stay reminds me that great experiences don’t always require getting on a plane. I believe in trying everything once — and knowing it’s okay if something’s not your vibe. But this? This was my vibe.
If you’re on the fence about a staycation or think they’re “not worth it,” this one might just change your mind.
