cleaning products my part-time helper reaches for consistently

The exact items my helper uses weekly! Nothing fancy, and these are some of my personal favourites as well since I bought them for her to use😂 I always offer a variety so she can choose what she feels most comfortable with and I’ve found that she reaches for these.

P.S. I got the help of ChatGPT to make a collage of all the products, so the proportions and designs are not 100% representative! We’ll keep the image for now because it conveys the idea~

Why I’m Sharing This

I get a lot of questions about the cleaning products I recommend or use at home. So I paid attention — and noticed that my part-time helper (who comes in bi-weekly) consistently gravitates towards these few tools and cleaners. This post is purely for convenience, so you can find everything in one place.

The line-up

  1. Self-emptying super lightweight vacuum

Comes with various attachments, which I have to admit neither myself nor my helper have used enough, but the main vacuum itself is super functional that’s why! It glides below furniture easily because of its flexible wand which bends for you. It’s also super easy to switch between the long wand and short handheld to clean tight spaces or small areas around the home, or even when cleaning the car!

One of the best features is the auto-emptying function. We put it back to its charging dock and it automatically empties and recharges itself.

  2. Simple & light mop & bucket with dry & wet chambers

I’ve only used this a couple of times, but its because my helper does a better job than me. This mop and bucket is easy to clean after – I feel this is overlooked often overlooked! When it comes to cleaning tools, I absolutely detest a tedious cleaning process. The cleaning itself is a chore itself, we don’t need another chore for our chore, you get what I mean😂

The mop pad comes off the velcro for easy washing, and it’s easily replaceable as well. The mop bucket has little wheels beneath to gently drag around the house, and it’s also light enough carry into the bathroom for a good rinse and dry once we’re done using.

  3. Semi-disposable multi-purpose cloths

This has been my love since Day 1 of living in this home, and I’ve never switched out my cleaning cloth once! It is super thin but durable and absorbent. It’s literally the perfect cleaning cloth!

Some of you. may already be familiar with this, but we replace each cloth every now and then when we feel the need. As for our helper, we get her to dispose bi-weekly since she is cleaning more surfaces in our home, and we personally want to reduce the post-cleaning trouble for her & ourselves too. It has worked out perfectly.

  4. Pet-safe detergent

This was recommended to us when we adopted our youngest 2 cats! It can be used in the bathroom, or for mopping around the home. It actually is super multi-functional – can be used as a multi-purpose cleaning and even laundry detergent, in the correct guided dilution. But this is used as the mopping detergent around our living area and floor cleaning detergent for the bathrooms.

The floral scent is very very pleasant and I just love that there’s a dependable cleaning product that is safe for pets and yet does the job.

  5. Bathroom surface cleaner

I love the refereshing peppermint scent of this, but if you don’t love peppermint then this is not the product for you. This shares the same brand as the all-purpose surface cleaner we provide our helper to use around our home, so I’ll talk more about this brand’s surface cleaners next.

  6. All-purpose surface cleaner

This brand makes some of the best scents in the market. It is not super strong, yet it’s not limited to the usual lemon or apple scents that is either too fake or soapy in consistency.

If you are new to surface cleaners, you are supposed to use it with a dry cloth! It is an excellent degreaser and cleaner in general and I’ve never had any issues using this even after cleaning my grease-filled induction hob after cooking steaks or pan-friend chicken.

We’ve gone through bottles of this collectively in our home – both our helper & us, and it’ll really take a lot for me to switch brands!

  7. Floor + tile scrubber

Just a simple scrubber that is length adjustable so it suits the height and usage preferences of the user. This is pretty sturdy, but its nothing fancy. I don’t believe we need a fancy or expensive brush to scrub the bathroom floors haha.

  8. Toilet bowl scrubber (semi-disposable)

I’ve been using and recommending this for YEARS, and all our helpers have used it well. Again, this removes the post-cleaning task, so everyone loves it. It is also an excellent cleaner for the toilet bowl, it contains so much product, and I’ll argue it easily cleans 2-3 toilet bowls.

I’ve personally tried several other competitor brands and they are no match to this. I’ve refilled the caddy numerous times and stand by this toilet cleaner! It just feels so much more hygienic than regular brushes which are yucky to me.
